Why not organic?

We are often asked why we are not organic and here’s why....

When it comes to baby food, the clever chaps making the laws for the EU have some very strict rules about what can and can’t go into food for anyone under 36 months of age - and darn right too! As a result, the number of additives and permitted ingredients that can be used is tightly controlled and applied equally to both non-organic and organic baby food.

All baby food ingredients – whether organic or non-organic – have to be thoroughly tested for antibiotics, pesticides, growth hormones and a whole bunch of other nasties. If they don’t meet the laws which require the virtual absence of any of these things, they can’t be sold.

The ingredients we use are as free of nasties as any organic ingredients. Knowing that we have such fantastic ingredients allows us to focus all our time, effort and care into making sure all our meals have the right nutritional balance for your child

All Babylicious and Kiddylicious meals are prepared under the strictest hygiene controls, and just to give you that extra peace of mind, we only use ingredients from well-trusted farms and suppliers.

And then to top it all, we re-test all our finished products for pesticide residues at a highly respected laboratory that has 'state of the art' pesticide detection equipment (equipment that can detect levels as low as 3 parts per billion).

A recent comprehensive Government review of our entire range shows we comply with all the EU regulations, have no nasties what-so-ever, and are one of the few babyfood makers whose meals genuinely meet the nutritional needs of babies and toddlers. Fiona, our expert food scientist, has more than 20 years experience, has a child of her own, and is also preganant. Believe us, nothing gets by her that she wouldn’t give to her own kids.
