Why we don’t do jars or pouches

Why do so many baby foods look and taste the same? Well, it’s because when they have been cooked in large saucepans the meal is put in a can/jar/pouch and then heated again to very high temperatures to sterilise the ingredients – this is done so they can sit on the shelf for ages.

At very high temperatures the natural food sugars caramelise and you get that strange “artificial” smell and orangey colour. Many baby foods also have powdered minerals and vitamins added back into them to them to replace those lost during sterilisation – nice!

We cook our recipes just like you would at home – you don’t cook and then sterilise. Nor do we. Which means our meals smell and taste like delicious, fresh, proper food.
